Welcome to the Camp Unalayee Blog

It’s a new year, we have a new website, and it’s time to start Camp Unalayee’s first ever blog.

I, Sarah Camp, have recently been hired as Unalayee’s Outreach Coordinator, and as part of this position will be updating this blog.  I am very excited about both this position and this blog, and can’t wait to see all your comments and feedback as we stay connected throughout the year!

If you’ve been to  Camp Unalayee, you already know me, but for those of you that don’t…

I have been going to Unalayee ALL my life… literally.  I was lucky enough to be raised by the Unalayee community and to have grown up in the beautiful Trinity Alps Wilderness.  I think my first visit was at 3 months.

I was a camper from age 10 and a counselor in training for two years as well. I’ve been a counselor every year for the last 7 years, and have been the program director, led the trail tribes, and been the counselor in training leader during that time.

Recently I’ve joined the Unalayee Board of Directors, and now I can’t wait to get going with outreach!  There are so many great events and things going on with the Unalayee community which I’ll be posting here over the next months.

Camp Unalayee is my home and family and I know many others feel the same way.  I hope that you already are, or will soon become, one of those people too.  I look forward to keeping you updated on our community and receiving your advice through this blog in the months to come.

    Hi Sarah.
I have been a member of campU for over 40 years.
I started as a staff and have never really left camp since.
I only regret that I was never introduced to camp young enough to have also been a camper at campU.
That has to be the best.

Great to have this blog! Especially great when we all need to communicate on such compelling issues as snow in the basin or lyrics to an old loved song. Here’s to many happy blogs — Sarah P

    Congratulations Sarah!

I have been looking over the web site, did you have a hand in it? It looks very well done. One thing to consider is adding a few photos of the staff under the “our leaders” tab.

I miss you all so much and think about camp every week, its crazy! Absence makes the heart grow founder right? I don’t think I will be able to get back this summer – but I will try! – graduate research (if all goes well) will take up the summer.
